We are building technology behind the otherwise superficial category of beauty and now Cocoon is looking for a Freelance Data Analyst and we hope to get you onboard full time if we are a good match. In your job, you will directly work with the core team. We are a data-first culture and as a Data Analyst you will w you will work independently either remote or from Brooklyn, NYC. You’ll get the opportunity to work on a wide variety of challenging problems to democratize data for millions of women with problematic skin (from acne to psoriasis).


You’ll import, clean, transform, validate or model complex data sets from multiple sources in order to understand and answer business questions surrounding:

  • User behavioral trends

  • Industry trends

  • Client-specific insights

  • Customer-facing business queries

You’ll identify root causes for problems, pinpoint trends, correlations and patterns in complicated data sets. Additionally you will design and present data and conclusions in charts, graphs and tables for client meetings. Maintain ongoing reports as well as develop and maintain data quality assurance measures and processes.

As a part of your job you will build out and automate Cocoon internal and external reporting and analytics capabilities using analytics tools (Tableau, Looker, etc). We will ask you to advise us on data quality issues—including transforming unstructured data to structured data.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Demonstrated self-starter and creative thinker who can handle a considerable amount of unstructured, real world data and be comfortable thinking about solving problems using new and novel approaches.

  • Experience using one or more business intelligence software tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.).

  • Knowledge of statistics.

  • Intermediate to advanced experience using SQL & Python

  • Ability to identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets and present data in a way that is intuitive to technical as well as nontechnical users.

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize a full plate.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.

  • You have an interest in a skin, beauty, cosmetics and disruptive technologies – or if not, you learn quickly!


  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in a data analyst role.

  • 1+ years of performing data analysis in support of a product organization.
